Message from the new CEO of Telecare Services Association

It is with great pleasure that I write as I begin my tenure as TSA’s Chief Executive. It is quite a time for the telecare and telehealth industry. With the economic crisis still a major issue, there are significant opportunities, as well as considerable threats. As the representative body, TSA will work with members through these turbulent times, ensuring the industry comes out stronger, and more relevant than ever.

One of my first tasks as CEO is to review TSA’s strategy in light of the new coalition Government, and the potential impact any differing impetus within health and social care reform may have on our industry. The telehealth strategy and the development of a telehealth standard will also be a high priority, as will the technological and communication issues affecting the industry, including the concerns surrounding Next Generation Networks (NGN’s). I will also be reviewing the full range of services to our members – and am keen to develop this range to reflect the changing needs of the membership as a whole. I am particularly interested in the views of members on this. Are there additional services TSA could offer to assist you in the development of your own organisation? I come into TSA at a particularly busy time, with the management of conference well underway, and the increased workload this brings. I understand the financial pressures many will be under over the coming months, but hope that you will be able to join us for conference in November – the programme is of specific relevance to telecare and telehealth within health and social care reform, and will certainly move this agenda forward.
