Building Britain’s Future is the Government’s plan to work with the British people to respond to the economic downturn and together build a stronger, fairer and more prosperous country.

"We recognise the big challenges that lie before us. An MP expenses scandal has corroded faith in our democracy just as a global economic crisis has threatened our jobs and homes.
"People want better. They want strong institutions they can rely on and they want to see a just and responsible society in which talent and hard work are rewarded. They also want security and support for their families.
"We understand this, which is why we are encouraging you to get involved with Building Britain’s Future. We have highlighted 12 commitments for focused and energetic action in the coming weeks and months. These priorities form the backbone of the Government’s draft legislative programme.
"Help us build a better Britain by taking part in the engagement process: feeding your views into the draft legislative programme and having your say on this, the Building Britain’s Future website.
"Your responses will be collated and published in late 2009 as an official document.
