How to market your business overseas and How to sell across cultures

Two interactive workshops sponsored by UKTI specifically designed to help staff responsible for marketing and selling in international markets.  Delegates will learn how to plan and action marketing strategies geared to closing the deal and ensuring profitable export growth for their business.  These workshops are free for TSA members to attend.

Workshop 1:  "How to market your business overseas" (Introduction to internationa marketing)

- Identifying overseas markets and potential customers

 - Modifying your offer to suit the market

 - Making contact, assessing and handling enquiries professionally

 - Communicating your marketing message and establishing your credibility, including; literature, exhibitions, advertising, PR, websites and social media, personal visits

 - Working with partners (the role of agents, distributors, franchisees and others)

 - Getting the price right, responding to tenders, agreements, terms & conditions

Workshop 2:  "How to sell across different cultures" (Concentrating on Europe, Middle East and Africa)

13.00 Registration, 13.30 Workshop

- What is 'culture' (in the context of international trade)

 - Why is it important to take culture into account when selling overseas

 - Things to consider and best practice advice covering; product and company names, brands and identities, selling services in different cultures, the right person for the job (gender, age, job titles, etc), marketing materials and messages, website internationalisation, successful meetings, negotiating in different business cultures, business etiquette.

 - Language considerations:  which language, using 'off-shore English', working with interpretors and translators
