It is universally accepted that Telecare service users can only achieve the optimum outcomes if they receive a service that is tailored to their individual needs. This requires Telecare professionals to follow a rigorous process of assessment and prescription using robust and standardised methods and decision support tools.
This training course is designed to be interactive and take delegates through the process of needs and risk assessment, service tailoring and set-up and is for anyone involved with delivering Telecare to service users.
Course aims:
- To understand the profiling of an individual and the level of detail required in order to understand their capabilities, their coping mechanisms and the level of support that they currently receive from informal carers, support staff and equipment to help them perform domestic and self-care tasks.
- To define, measure and prioritise the risks to independence and social inclusion that are present due to the individual’s physical, emotional, cognitive and sensory deficits, their lifestyle, and the environment in which they live.
- To manage or control these risks, and hence keep people safe, by matching technology, monitoring and physical response to particular risks and triggers, using both standard Telecare systems and devices and alternatives that use other communication networks and devices.
- At the end of the course, delegates will be able develop their own model and processes for providing a high quality local Telecare service, and will also be able to share this knowledge and learning with colleagues in their own companies.
