The TSA have managed to negotiate a member discount for two qualifications that the Centre for Housing and Support Offer.  The qualifications are:
 
The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Users of Technology Enabled Care Services
This is a starter course that many people have been requesting. It is an ideal first step in learning about technology-enabled care services and is suitable for support workers in residential care; non-residential support workers; care enablers and equipment providers and/or installers.
 
The award will provide a valuable accreditation of existing skills and contribute to the knowledge and understanding of professionals in many types of care and support settings. The course comprises four mandatory modules plus four optional modules, from which the learner will select two.
 
The four mandatory modules are:
 
  • Principles and Ethics of Technology-Enabled Care Services.
  • Enabling Individuals who use Technology-Enabled Care Services to carry out daily tasks.
  • Communication with users of Technology-Enabled Care Services.
  • Health and Safety issues in relation to Technology-Enabled Care Services.
The optional modules - of which two are to be selected
  • Telecare and Telehealth – defining the principles of Telecare and Telehealth.
  • Stock Control for Technology-Enabled Care Services.
  • Telecare Service Centres and Response.
  • Installation and Maintenance of Telecare and Telehealth.
 
Level 3 Certificate in Telecare Services
This is a recognised qualification, validated by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) that aims to develop the skills and knowledge of those employed in providing a Telecare service. It also prepares learners for further study and progression to the CIH level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Housing Practice. Successful completion also earns the student 16 QCF credits.
 
The certificate includes the following five units, each with an assignment.
  • The Context of Telecare Services Provision.
  • Providing Telecare Services.
  • Call Handling for Telecare Services Operators.
  • Professional Practice Skills for Housing.
  • Handling Telecare Customer Data Safely & Securely.
