TELECARE WHAT IT MEANS FOR SHELTERED HOUSING
IN ASSOCIATION WITH INSIGHT SOCIAL RESEARCH
Telecare, operating with the help of communications technologies, is the key to delivering better care and support services in the community. It builds on the strong tradition of social alarms and has a crucial role to play in sheltered housing. If we are to harness the potential of telecare we must understand the range of options it offers and the implications it has for staff based in and residents of Sheltered Housing. This course sets out the options; explores the implications; and provides a firm foundation for considering the fit of sheltered housing within telecare strategies.
Programme will include
Older people, Sheltered Housing and technologies - technologies and independent living; how technologies can give or remove control; how older people use technologies; technologies in Sheltered Housing

Technologies and support - technologies for emergencies; technologies for prevention; technologies and particular needs dementia, falls, COPD and heart failure, visual impairment, medication compliance
