TSA Annual General Meeting

The TSA Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place on Thursday 3 May 2012. The event was held at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole Hotel, and attracted 113 attendees. Lorna Muir, TSA's Chair for 2011/12 welcomed the attendees to the event, and outlined the programme for the day.

 

Trevor Single, TSA's Chief Executive, reviewed the TSA activities through 2011, including:

  • the voice in Whitehall for TSA members– engaging with DH and BIS
  • engaging with other key policy and opinion makers across four nation states and Europe
  • signing a Concordat with Government on the 3millionlives initiative
  • continuing the development of industry standards including the Integrated Telecare  and Telehealth Code of Practice and the introduction of the Supplier Code of Conduct
  • engaging with members through conference, regional fora, supplier and technical standards meetings
  • the development of a new and improved website
  • the continued development of the International Telecare and Telehealth Conference
  • the appointment of a Business Development Manager to increase membership and increase the array of value added services

 

Trevor also outlined the plans for 2012.
 
 
Malcolm Fisk, Treasurer for 2011/12, gave a review of TSA's finances, which remain healthy with consolidation of membership, and increased input into projects.
 
 
Following the AGM formal business, chaired by Lorna Muir, the latest organisations to achieve the TSA Telecare Code of Practice and European Technical Specification for Social Alarms were welcomed to the stage to receive their awards. The organisations receiving their TSA Telecare Code of Practice glassware were:
  • Councillor Lesley Kelly and Claire Carter from the London Borough of Havering
  • Dawn Eustace, Abou Gaye and Craig Ryan from Sutton Housing Partnership
 
The organisation receiving their certificate for achieving the European Technical Specification for Social Alarms was:
  • Jennifer Brown, Donna Davis and Carol Levis for Weaver Vale Housing Trust.

The guest speakers for this event were Jim McManus, Joint Director of Public Health, Birmingham City Council, and Stephen Johnson, Deputy Director, Head of Long Term Conditions, Department of Health.
 
 
New for this year was the Member Showcase, which enabled attendees to review some of the technologies currently on offer from within the TSA membership.
 
 
Following lunch, attendees had the option to attend one of three workshops covering NOWIP, Standards and 3millionlives.
