Paul Shead

Paul has been working in the telecare industry since 1994, first as a monitoring service provider and then as a supplier, with senior technical, sales and commercial roles at Attendo, Chubb and Verklizan (Novalarm).

Verklizan provides the UMO Universal Monitoring platform, operational in 13 European countries. UMO centres are monitoring over 650,000 people who are using a wide variety of telecare, video, mobile and telehealth devices. Verklizan do not manufacture or supply these devices, so do not compete with the vast majority of the TSA supply sector membership. Instead, Verklizan choose to actively work with other suppliers to achieve interoperability and help monitoring centres develop unique service offerings and take advantage of the best products and innovations from across Europe.

Paul has worked very closely with the TSA and its membership since the organisation first started as ASAP in Rochester. Paul was involved in the original ASAP Technical Group, and represented ASAP and the UK as an expert on the British Standard and European Standards committees during the development of the EN50134 Social Alarm standards. Paul also wrote four of the first TSA good practice guides.

Paul was delighted to be elected as a Non Executive Director representing the supply sector, and looks forward to taking up the post in May 2012.

Paul lives in Lancashire with hiswife and 8 year old son, and when he is not working, he loves to ride motorbikes and play guitar in a local band.
