Malcolm Fisk is a supplier sector representative on the TSA Board representing Insight Social Research Ltd (of which he is a Director). Insight has, since its establishment in 1999, worked within five European Commission funded projects and undertaken extensive research and consultancy for government bodies, housing associations and charitable bodies in Britain and Ireland. The scope of the company's work has embraced housing, community development, children and families, older people, disability, social alarms and telecare.
Malcolm is also Co-Director of the Ageing Society Grand Challenge Initiative at Coventry University (within the Health Design and Technology Institute) and he leads (for the University) the European Commission funded TeleSCoPE project. This project involves partners in seven EU countries, including the TSA, in developing a European Code of Practice for Telehealth Services to be launched in the spring of 2013.
Among Malcolm's achievements are his recent four year term as Chair of the National Partnership Forum for Older People in Wales - advising the Welsh Government on older people's issues and playing a key part in the appointment of the Older Person's Commissioner. His range of publications is substantial and ranges from the 1989 edited volume (via the Planning Exchange, Glasgow) 'Alarm Systems and Elderly People' to his 2003 opus (via The Policy Press) 'Social Alarms to Telecare: Older People's Services in Transition' described as an 'original and long awaited contribution', 'an invaluable reference work, well researched' and 'compulsive reading'! His recent book chapters address ethical issues in telehealth and the role of telecare in relation to the needs of people with epilepsy. Malcolm is a regular speaker in both the UK and international fora. During 2010-11 he gave plenary presentations at, amongst other places, conference in Taiwan (MEIT), Australia (Global eHealth) and Luxembourg (Medetel).
